Chadwell Heath Pupils Inspired by Visit from high-profile UK Business Figure
Chadwell Heath Academy recently welcomed a high-profile senior business figure, Sir Ian Cheshire, Chair of Land Securities Group plc and Chair of Spire Healthcare Group Plc, to deliver an inspiring talk to pupils.
Sir Ian is a highly experienced UK business and public policy leader, having previously served as Group Chief Executive of Kingfisher plc, Chair of Barclays Bank UK and Channel 4. He has also held senior advisory roles within government, including lead non-executive director at the Cabinet Office and the Department for Work and Pensions. Sir Ian was knighted in 2014 for services to business, sustainability, and the environment.
Sir Ian spoke candidly about his own career journey, sharing practical advice on leadership, communication, and the importance of lifelong learning. Pupils were particularly engaged during an extended question-and-answer session, where Sir Ian took time to respond thoughtfully to every question, encouraging students to think confidently about their aspirations and the many routes to success beyond school. He was incredibly down-to-earth and humble, and his willingness to share his knowledge and experiences made the session especially powerful.”
The visit formed part of the school’s ongoing commitment to raising aspirations and providing pupils with meaningful encounters with professionals from a wide range of industries. The visit was arranged through Futures4All, a non-profit organisation that connects schools with professionals to help raise aspirations and improve social mobility.
Chadwell Heath Academy extends its thanks to Sir Ian and his team for supporting such an impactful and memorable experience for pupils.
