Head of Year: Miss S Howard

It is a pleasure to welcome our students back to Chadwell Heath Academy as they begin their journey through Year 8. Having had the privilege of being their Head of Year throughout Year 7, I am delighted to continue working with this wonderful group of young people as they enter the next stage of their secondary school education.

It has been fantastic to watch our students grow in confidence, maturity and independence over the past year. They have made many positive steps in their learning, behaviour and relationships with others, and I am proud of the progress they have made. As we begin Year 8, I look forward to seeing these qualities continue to develop and to supporting each student in reaching their full potential.

At Chadwell Heath Academy, we continue to set exceptionally high expectations for all our students. Our aim is to provide a safe, happy and nurturing learning environment where every young person feels valued, supported and challenged to achieve their very best. Year 8 is an important year in which students should begin to take greater ownership of their learning, behaviour and personal development. Your support in reinforcing these expectations at home remains invaluable.

As parents and guardians, you play a vital role in your child’s continued success. Encouraging good study habits, regular reading, excellent behaviour and a positive attitude towards learning can make a significant difference. We greatly value the partnership between home and school, and I thank you for your continued support and commitment to your child’s education.

Attendance and punctuality remain key priorities. Being in school every day and arriving on time ensures that students can benefit fully from their lessons, pastoral support and the wider opportunities available to them. Please continue to monitor homework tasks and submissions through Satchel One, which provides an important link between home and school and helps students to develop greater responsibility for their learning.

Should you have any questions or concerns regarding your child’s progress in a particular subject, please contact their subject teacher or Head of Department. For pastoral matters, please do not hesitate to contact myself, Mr Willingham (Deputy Head of Year 8) or your child’s Form Tutor.

The pastoral team and I remain committed to supporting every student in Year 8 to maximise their potential. We will continue to provide a wide range of opportunities, strategies and support, including enrichment activities, homework support, student leadership opportunities and initiatives designed to develop confidence, resilience and independence.

I am very much looking forward to continuing this journey with our students. Having worked with them throughout Year 7, I know the potential this year group possesses, and I am excited to see what they can achieve. With high expectations, a positive attitude and strong support from both home and school, I am confident that Year 8 will be another successful and rewarding year.
