Working together as one school family

As the Head of Year 11, I am delighted to continue this journey with our students and their families. The journey we all started together back in Year 7 has now reached its final stage. It feels quite remarkable to think about how much our young people have grown, developed and changed since those first days of secondary school. Before long, they will be ready to begin the next chapter of their journey here at Chadwell Heath, continuing their education and taking their next steps towards their future. Year 11 is the final chapter of this important part of their school journey, and it is one that we will share together as a school family — supporting, encouraging and celebrating our students every step of the way.

This is a significant stage in our students’ education as they work towards their GCSEs and begin to think more seriously about their future. Having watched them grow since Year 7, we want this final stage to be one they can look back on with pride and happiness. However, Year 11 is about much more than exam results. It is about helping young people develop confidence, resilience, independence and the belief that they can achieve their goals. We want every student to look back on this year knowing that they gave their best, made positive memories and grew into the person they can become.

At Chadwell Heath Academy, we pride ourselves on being more than just a school. We are a community and a school family, where students, staff and families work together and look out for one another. Our core values of responsibility, enterprise, sympathy and tolerance, positivity and energy, and courage will continue to guide us throughout the year.

We encourage our students to take responsibility for their learning and choices, to show enterprise by taking opportunities and believing in themselves, and to treat others with kindness, sympathy and tolerance. Most importantly, I want our Year 11 students to know that they are not on this journey alone. There will be times when things feel difficult, whether academically, personally or emotionally. When those moments come, we will be here to listen, guide and support them. We will celebrate their successes, encourage them when things do not go to plan and remind them of how much they can achieve.
