Yr 8 Soapbox Challenge

On Thursday 28 February pupils in Year 8 competed in our annual public speaking competition, Soapbox Challenge.

All pupils in the year group wrote and delivered a three minute speech to their form group on a subject they felt passionate about. The best three speakers from each form went forward into the final competition - performing their speech again to the entire year group on the main stage!

The standard of speeches was incredibly high on subjects as diverse as racial equality, Islamophobia and croissants!

The overall winner of this year’s Soapbox Challenge competition was Ellie Stewart from 8B who delivered an inspirational speech on ‘Life & Equality’.  The runners up were: Saanvi Dommata from 8P who spoke about ‘Inspiration’ and Shara Ahammed from 8S who spoke about ‘Food’. All three winners received an Amazon gift voucher.

Congratulations to all the speakers who were brave enough to address their peers and spoke with such passion and confidence.
