Yr 10 visit Wesminster Abbey

On Friday 23rd November and Monday 26th, 56 year 10’s RE students took a trip to Westminster Abbey. Here they participated in a workshop and tour on Christian Life, to tie in with their current GCSE topic of Christian Beliefs and Practices. Within the tour pupils learnt about the religious aspects of the Abbey, as well as many interesting historical facts. For example, how the Westminster School Boys used to sneak into the Abbey at night during the 1800’s. Pupils were able to see where Holy Communion is taken, and where children are baptised. They also were amazed that this is the place future Kings and Queens will have their coronation, and were excited to say that they had been here. The staff at the Abbey was fantastic and also commented on how polite and well-mannered all the pupils were. We had two fantastic afternoons and will definitely be returning in future years.
