Welcome from the Headteacher

Welcome to the Chadwell Heath Academy and thank you for showing an interest in our school.

We, as a school, believe that our role and purpose is to educate young people and equip them with the tools they will need for their future, both for further education and the workplace. Therefore, if your child joins our school they must arrive equipped and willing to work hard to achieve success from day one. As teachers, we have high expectations that can only be met through the hard work and determination of all involved.

We expect our pupils to have good discipline, respect for each other and a willingness to contribute to the school community through involvement in lessons and extracurricular activities. This approach has led us to become a successful, all ability 11 to 18 six form entry co-educational Academy serving the local community with approximately 1300 pupils on roll, including 350 in the Sixth Form.

The keyword for our school is ‘opportunity’; the opportunity to achieve success in all fields of activity - academic, sporting and creative. To achieve this we aim to create a happy working atmosphere which will enable our pupils to develop their strengths and overcome their weaknesses; enable them to grow in understanding of themselves and of the need for self-discipline, honesty and tolerance of others so that they are able to take their place as good citizens in the world of tomorrow.

We want our pupils to be successful and it is our expectation that our pupils will stay with us into the Sixth Form before applying for higher education or taking the first step into the world of work and their future careers.

We encourage our pupils to achieve in all areas of school life. Credits are awarded regularly for good work and behaviour in the Lower School, and pupils are recognised in both Year assemblies and the Headteacher’s assembly for their achievements.

Academic progress, of all pupils in all subjects, is monitored through a programme where effort and attainment grades are awarded at regular intervals throughout the year. These grades are sent to parents and good effort is recognised and rewarded. Where we feel there is a problem, we will liaise with parents and take prompt and appropriate action. All pupils are tested in formal examinations during the course of the year.

We recognise that success in examinations opens doors to future careers. Therefore our pupils are mentored and supported with a variety of interventions designed to ensure that they have the best chance of fulfilling their potential.
